Cliffside Villa with Stunning Lighthouse
Views in Puerto Escondido
This unique house is situated on perhaps the highest point of land along the cliff in Puerto Escondido, next to the lighthouse El Faro.
It was built in 1999 by Subagh Singh who designed the house and supervised it’s construction. He slept on site among the granitic boulders for three months and afterwards he concluded that the heart chakra was emanating from the stones, so he designed a house to sit on top of it.
ā
During construction a Neolithic wall in ruins on the cliff was discovered. Archaeologists dated it to 7,000 years ago and found shells from Veracruz inside.
ā
Mr. Singh’s inspiration for the house came from the architecture and ‘feeling’ of the legendary Santa Fe Hotel on Zicatela; consequently, it has both ‘open’ and ‘closed’ areas. With a very large sala, kitchen and a viewing palapa ‘open’, while all of the bedrooms and baths are ‘closed’.
ā
In 2007 a second floor was remodelled into a bedroom, and the final floor (3rd) positioned almost at the same height of the lighthouse with amazing views across Zicatela, the entire ocean and some of the mountains to the north.
ā
In 2019 an addition was added to include an ‘enclosed’ sala and master bedroom. In all there are 4 bedrooms en suite. 4 bathrooms. 5 beds (3 king size) 3 bedrooms have air conditioning and there are a myriad of ceiling and standing fans. There is a clothes washer and an upstairs covered space for drying.
ā
The septic, which is connected to the municipal system has a macerating pump with a buried cistern and a tinaco on the 2nd floor to receive city water.
There is a purification device for the kitchen sink.
There is a garage, and two cliffside palapas, and the property is planted in a tropical garden created by an internationally recognized landscape designer.
There is a plunge pool (10x16 sq.ft) with lavish terraces, and there are several specimen trees and shrubs in ceramic pots.
All staircases have wrought iron handrails.
A solar panel system provides electricity to the 2 air conditioners in the new building added in 2019. All of the palapas were renovated in 2021.
The lot size is approximately 580 sq. meters or approx. 6,250 sq.ft. and the constructions amount to approx. 650 sq. meters or 7,000 sq. ft.
The fideicomiso charge per year is currently at USD$700.00
ā
Asking price USD $1,920,000
